Valves![]() Valves of marine diesel engines work under severe mechanical and thermal load cycles. Shaft and transition radii to the disc are susceptible to fatigue. The safety of vessel, load and passengers depends on the reliable function of the engines. Deep Rolling with ECOROLL® "ballpoint" tools HG13 increases the fatigue strength to the 2.5 fold value and therefore increases safety and reliability of the engines. Crank shafts for marine diesels ![]() Main bearings and crank bearings are roller burnished on crank shaft lathes after cutting. At the same time, fillets aside of the bearings are deep rolled by means of "ballpoint" tool HG13L. This is a tool with extended length, specially made to have collision free excess between the cranks. |

Cylinder liners![]() Cylinder liners in truck and marine diesels are often held in position on a circumferential collar and the top. Complex stress cycles alter at the transition caused by internal pressure and radial piston forces. Material fatigue can cause cracks at the fillet of the liner and in some cases also at the fit in the cylinder housing. ECOROLL® tools EF45 are suitable for the fillets of the cylinder liners. They are used for a plunge in process up to fillet radii 2,5 mm. In a recent case, the original requirement was an increase of fatigue strength of 30 %. Fatigue tests have shown an increase by 200 % (threefold value compared to non treated components). |
